Government's response to remarks made by Hon Margaret Ng on CE election

Commenting on the remarks made by the Hon Margaret Ng on the upcoming Chief Executive (CE) election in her "Letter to Hong Kong" broadcast on RTHK today (November 5), a Government spokesman said that Hong Kong's elections had a fine tradition of being open, fair and clean.

He said that both the Election Committee subsector elections in December and the CE election in March next year would be held in accordance with the Basic Law and the relevant electoral legislation, and in an open and fair manner.

"Any qualified persons who are interested to stand as candidates in the elections may do so in accordance with the law," said the spokesman.
