The delegation of 22 representatives includes representatives of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office.

The visit is organised by the Constitutional Affairs Bureau (CAB). A CAB spokesman said that the PPRD General Co-ordination Office of each province/area was responsible for promoting co-operation in the PPRD region. To invite the representatives of the offices to visit Hong Kong will enhance their understanding of Hong Kong's development in various aspects. The delegation will visit several government bureaux/departments including the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau; Environment, Transport and Works Bureau; Economic Development and Labour Bureau; Financial Services and Treasury Bureau and Invest Hong Kong. They will also visit the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Exchange, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Airport Authority, Superterminal 1 at the airport, the container terminals in Kwai Chung and Tsing Ma Bridge.

The delegation will also understand more about the latest development on supportive services to trade and industry, and on cross-border transport network, tourism, logistics, infrastructure, financial services, and the advantages of Hong Kong as a financial, logistics, tourism and services hub.

The PPRD region comprises nine provinces/area in the Mainland - Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan - and Hong Kong and Macao SARs.

During the visit, the participants will take part in a directors' meeting of the PPRD Development and Reform Commissions on April 22 to discuss the preparatory work for the second PPRD Regional Co-operation and Development Forum and Trade Fair, as well as the key work on regional co-operation in the days ahead.
