Task force to meet NPCSC representatives tomorrow

The Constitutional Development Task Force led by the Chief Secretary for Administration will meet with representatives of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) tomorrow morning (March 30) at Shenzhen Guest House at 10am.

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang; the Secretary for Justice, Miss Elsie Leung; and the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, will brief the NPCSC representatives on the task force's report which details the views of the SAR Government on the issues of legislative process in the Basic Law relating to Hong Kong's constitutional development.

The report also contains copies of all written submissions received by the task force, and a summary of views of different organisations and individuals the task force has met with. The NPCSC will be discussing the draft interpretations on Article 7 of Annex I and Article 3 of Annex II of the Basic Law at its meeting to be held from April 2 to 6.

The Chief Secretary for Administration, the Secretary for Justice and the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs will return to Hong Kong tomorrow afternoon. A press conference will be convened after their return.
