Souvenirs for newly-registered electors

Every newly registered elector or registered elector who reports his or her change of address will receive a bookstore privilege card and a specially designed cardholder.
A spokesman for the Constitutional Affairs Bureau said today (June 21) that the souvenirs were small tokens of appreciation to newly-registered electors and electors who report their change of address during the 2003 Voter Registration Campaign from June 1 to July 16, 2003.
The spokesman said: "This year, the Government and the Hong Kong Publishing Federation have jointly organised the 2003 Voter Registration 'Promote Reading Programme' in support of the Campaign."
"We hope that the Programme will encourage life-long learning and nurture a reading habit amongst electors," he added.
The privilege card entitles holders to different concessions, up to 20 per cent discount of normal purchase prices, upon presentation at more than 50 bookstores in Hong Kong until December this year. Details of the concessions can be found on the dedicated voter registration website www.voterregistration.gov.hk.
In addition to the bookstore discount card, the electors will receive an Octopus cardholder which is specially designed for the Campaign. An elector will receive one of four different designs.
Electors who have been registered or who have updated their address records since June 1 will receive the two souvenirs along with the registration notices issued by the Registration and Electoral Office.
