In response to media enquiries on the amendment to the
European Parliament Report on Hong Kong concerning the
outbreak of atypical pneumonia, a Government spokesman said
today (April 8), "We note that the report welcomes the actions
of the Hong Kong healthcare professionals and scientists in
responding to the outbreak of the virus."
The spokesman said the HKSARG has been in close communication with the World Health Organization and the health authorities in the Mainland. "With full support of the Central People's Government, we have established a direct communication mechanism with the Guangdong authorities on information exchange relating to atypical pneumonia," the spokesman said. "We will continue to develop close communication with our Guangdong counterparts in a pragmatic manner and in the spirit of mutual respect under the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle," the spokesman added.
