Database on Basic Law Court Cases

2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) as well as the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the Basic Law of the HKSAR of the People’s Republic of China.  To enhance and deepen the understanding of the Basic Law among different sectors of the community, the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau has set up a website of Basic Law court cases database, which contains a database of court cases related to the Basic Law.  The database has collated basic information about such court cases, relevant judgments and judicial explanations, and can be easily assessed by members of the public through simple search engine functions to understand the provision and contents of the Basic Law through these court cases.  Users may either enter the article number of the relevant provision of the Basic Law, the date of a hearing/judgment or other keywords to search a court case.

The database also includes other interesting and practical information such as "Basic Law Questions and Answers" and a "Basic Law Time Capsule" to enhance the interest of various sectors of the community in understanding the Basic Law.

The public is welcome to visit the database website at www.basiclawcourtcase.gov.hk.
