SCMA to lead delegation to Beijing and Xi'an |
At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, will lead a delegation of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to Beijing and Xi'an in the afternoon of October 11 as the annual reciprocal visit between the HKSAR Government and the MFA. In Beijing, the delegation will meet with officials of the MFA, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Culture and be briefed on the latest plans and development of the "Belt and Road" initiative. The delegation will also make courtesy calls on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. The delegation will visit Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, from October 14 to 16 where members will meet with officials to learn about the province's latest work in support of the "Belt and Road" initiative. A spokesman for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said the HKSAR Government and the MFA have been having an annual reciprocal visit arrangement since 1999 to enhance communication and mutual exchange. Mr Tam will return to Hong Kong in the evening of October 16. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Ronald Chan, will be the Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.
