Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs visits the Mainland

     At the invitation of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council (HKMAO), the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, will lead a delegation of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to visit the Mainland from May 29 to June 3.

     While in Beijing, the delegation will make calls on the HKMAO, the National Development and Reform Commission and other ministries of the Central Government. The delegation will then visit Jilin Province and meet the officials there.

     A spokesman for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau today (May 28) said that the purpose of the visit was to enhance communication and mutual understanding. The delegation includes representatives from the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, the Security Bureau and the Department of Justice.

     Mr Lam will depart from Hong Kong on May 28 and return on June 3. During Mr Lam's absence, the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Miss Adeline Wong, will be Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.
