Appointments to Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials

     The Government today (April 21) announced that the Chief Executive has appointed Professor Liu Pak-wai as a member of the Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials (Advisory Committee) for a term from April 15, 2011 to June 30, 2013.

     The Chief Executive has also re-appointed Mr Moses Cheng Mo-chi as the Chairman, and Dr Norman Leung Nai-pang, Dr Elizabeth Shing Shiu-ching and Mr Tim Lui Tim-leung as members of the Advisory Committee for another term ending on June 30, 2013.

     A Government spokesman said, "We are confident that, under the chairmanship of Mr Cheng and with the wealth of experience of its members, the Advisory Committee will continue to discharge its function in a professional manner and play a vital role in maintaining community confidence in the integrity of the public service."

     The Government also expressed sincere gratitude for the service of Professor Lee Chack-fan in the past six years. Professor Lee has served as a member of the Advisory Committee since it was first set up in 2005.

     The terms of reference of the Advisory Committee are:

(a) to draw up the principles and criteria to be adopted for the purpose of advising former Chief Executives and politically appointed officials on their post-office employment or appointment; and

(b) on the basis of the principles and criteria adopted, to consider and advise former Chief Executives and politically appointed officials on post-office employment or appointment.
