SCMA speaks to media at Queen Mary Hospital

Following is the transcript of the remarks (English portion) by the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, at a media session at the Queen Mary Hospital this morning (April 8):

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs: I am very grateful to members of the media, my colleagues, various members of the Legislative Council and other friends for expressing their concern about my health situation in the course of last day or so. Also, I would like to explain that because the heart condition and the congestion in the blood vessel was identified through a regular check-up process, this has enabled me to approach the Queen Mary Hospital, the University of Hong Kong medical team for advice and for consultation at an early stage. The operation has been very successful. I am in good health and I am also able to discharge my public duties for today. Therefore, I am returning to the office now to consider various issues which we are putting to the Executive Council in the near future, and also to prepare for the Budget debate which will resume Wednesday next week. In the meantime, I would like to thank, once again, Professor Stephen Lee and his team, for taking such good care of myself. I and my family are very grateful.
