The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau is inviting applications to the "Children's Rights Education Funding Scheme 2011" (the Scheme).

The Scheme provides funding for educational projects to promote children's rights. The objective is to encourage and enable community organisations to take up educational projects to raise public awareness and understanding of children's rights enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

"The Government is committed to working together with community organisations to promote the rights of children. Since 2006, we have launched the Children's Rights Education Funding Scheme," a spokesman for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said today (August 11).

"We received enthusiastic support from organisations for the scheme in the past five years. The community activities funded under the scheme targetted at different social groups, and have enhanced awareness of children's rights among the public. So far, the scheme has funded more than 120 projects held by various non-governmental organisations, including community organisations, children's organisations and ethnic minority groups."
