Applications invited for Children's Rights Education Funding Scheme

The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau is inviting applications for the Children's Rights Education Funding Scheme 2010-11.

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial support for various organisations in organising educational activities in an effort to raise public awareness and understanding of children's rights enshrined in the Unite Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

"The Government is committed to working together with community organisations to promote the rights of children. Since 2006, we have launched the Children's Rights Education Funding Scheme," a spokesman for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said today (December 10).

"We have received enthusiastic support from organisations for the scheme in the past four years. The community activities funded under the scheme targeted different social groups, and have enhanced awareness of children's rights among the public. So far, the scheme has funded more than 100 projects held by various NGOs, including community organisations, children's organisation and ethnic minority groups."

Application forms are available from the website of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau (www.cmab.gov.hk/en/issues/child_funding.htm) and at all Public Enquiry Service Centres under the District Offices. The deadline for application is January 28, 2010.

For enquiries, please contact the Children's Rights Unit of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau at 2810 3950.
