Appointment to the Electoral Affairs Commission

     The Chief Executive has re-appointed Mr Lawrence Lok, SC, as a member of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) for a term of three years with effect from January 7, 2009 to January 6, 2012. The re-appointment has been gazetted today (January 2).

     "We are pleased that Mr Lok will continue to serve on the EAC. His experience in the legal sector and electoral matters will be of great help to the commission in accomplishing its future tasks," a government spokesman said.

     The EAC is established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. Its responsibilities include making recommendations on geographical constituency boundaries, and conducting and supervising elections. It also supervises the registration of electors and makes arrangements to ensure that the elections are conducted openly, fairly and honestly.
