SCA on first focus group discussion

Following is the transcript (English portion) of a standup briefing given by the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, after attending the first constitutional development focus group discussion at North Point Government Offices today (June 25):

SCA: Today we held the first focus group discussion about the question of constitutional development. Today's discussion follows the seminars which we held last month or so. The format today is configured so as to enable smaller groups to be gathered and to provide more time for people who participate to give their views. This has enabled today's session to come up with more specific views and also enables us to have a wider discussion among participants. In the coming weeks, we will organise more of these focus group discussions. At the same time, we have also invited the Home Affairs Department to organise discussions with their district level personalities. So at the central level, at the professional and sectoral level, at district level, we welcome views from all sides. Also we will ensure that the views which we have gathered today will be uploaded to our website as soon as possible so as to maintain the transparency of our consultation process.
