SCA launches new TV API featuring Basic Law theme song

The Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, officiated at the launching of a newly produced Television Announcement in the Public Interest (TV API) featuring the Basic Law theme song, at a carnival to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law this afternoon (April 1).

The theme song was composed by Mr Chan Fai Young, with lyrics by Mr Cheng Kok Kong, and rendered by canto-pop singers Hacken Lee, Gigi Leung and Kelly Chen.

Joining Mr Lam were members of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee Ms Cammy Chan Siu-king, Mr Dick Wong Fu-wing, Mr Wong Yuk-tong; Deputy Solicitor General, Department of Justice Mr Stephen Wong; Head, Chinese Programme Service, RTHK Mr Philip Chow; artiste Alex Fong and representative of the Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards, Mr Hui Chung Lung.

Mr Lam and members of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee also presented prizes to winners of the Inter-school Basic Law Game Booth Design Competition. The competition was jointly organized by the Constitutional Affairs Bureau (CAB) and Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB). All of the 23 game booths at the carnival at Victoria Park today were designed, decorated and operated by finalists of the competition.

Through participating in the booth games, members of the public could not only deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Basic Law, but also win prizes.

Results of the competition are as follows:

Best game booth award:

* Champion: Tang King Po School
* First Runner-up: HHCKLA Buddhist Leung Chik Wai College
* Second Runner-up: ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School

Best decorated booth award:

* Champion: Tang King Po School
* First Runner-up: HHCKLA Buddhist Leung Chik Wai College
* Second Runner-up: Shun Tak Fraternal Association Yung Yau College

The carnival was organized by CAB and co-organised by EMB, RTHK and the Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards. The stage programme was produced by RTHK and included performances by winners of past Basic Law promotional competition, popular artistes, a primary student marching band, acrobatics and rope skipping.
