Annual reciprocal visit between HKSARG and MFA

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Ms Chang King-yiu, will lead a delegation of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to Beijing and Xinjiang from October 15 to 20 as the annual reciprocal visit between the HKSAR Government and the MFA.

A spokesman for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said the HKSAR Government and the MFA have had an annual reciprocal visit arrangement since 1999 to enhance communication and mutual exchange.

The delegation will visit Xinjiang from October 15 to 17 and meet with Xinjiang officials to learn about Xinjiang's work plan and latest developments in support of the Belt and Road Initiative. The delegation will then visit Beijing from October 18 to 20 where members will meet with officials of the MFA, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, make courtesy calls on the relevant ministries and offices, as well as learn about the latest developments of the National 13th Five-Year Plan and the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, will join the visit in Beijing from October 18 to 20.

The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs and the delegation will return to Hong Kong on the evening of October 20. During Mr Tam's absence, the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Ronald Chan, will be the Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.
