Re-appointment to Electoral Affairs Commission

The Chief Executive has re-appointed Professor Fanny Cheung Mui-ching as a member of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) for a term of four years with effect from September 29, 2016 to September 28, 2020. The appointment was gazetted today (July 8).

"We are pleased that Professor Fanny Cheung will continue to serve on the EAC. Professor Cheung's experience in the EAC will be of great help to the Commission in accomplishing its future tasks," a Government spokesman said.

The EAC is an independent statutory body established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. Its responsibilities include making recommendations on geographical constituency boundaries, and making regulations, guidelines and arrangements for the registration of electors and the conduct of public elections. The main objective of the EAC is to ensure that public elections are conducted in an open, fair and honest manner.
