ECCPC Chairperson to visit Taiwan for Lighting Ceremony of Hong Kong Lantern Area of 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival

The following is issued on behalf of the Secretariat to the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Cooperation and Promotion Council:

     The Chairperson of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Cooperation and Promotion Council (ECCPC), Mr David Lie, will conduct a two-day visit to Taoyuan this Sunday (February 21) to promote exchanges between Hong Kong and Taiwan.

     Mr Lie will attend the Lighting Ceremony of the Hong Kong Lantern Area of the 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival organised by the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office on February 21 evening, and will serve as the officiating guest at the ceremony. During his stay in Taiwan, Mr Lie will also visit a tea factory in Taoyuan to learn more about Taiwan's tea culture.

     The ECCPC is the communication platform for Hong Kong to take forward co-operation and exchanges with Taiwan on public policy matters. This year marks the third time that the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office has participated in the Taiwan Lantern Festival, which is the largest of its kind in Taiwan. It will present lantern displays featuring unique flavours of Hong Kong, allowing Taiwan people to get a taste of Hong Kong culture.
