Re-appointment of Chairman of Electoral Affairs Commission

     The Chief Executive has re-appointed Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah as the Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) for a term of four years from August 17, 2013, to August 16, 2017. The re-appointment has been gazetted today (June 21).

     "We are pleased that Mr Justice Fung will continue to serve as the Chairman of the EAC. His experience in the EAC will help the Commission in accomplishing its future tasks," a Government spokesman said.

     The EAC was established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. Its responsibilities include making recommendations on geographical constituency boundaries, and conducting and supervising elections. It also supervises the registration of electors and makes arrangements to ensure that elections are conducted openly, fairly and honestly.
