     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, and the Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung, today (September 3) officiated at a ceremony to launch the publicity campaign for the 2011 District Council (DC) Election.

     Mr Lam, in his speech, encouraged voters to show their care for the community and called on all eligible voters to cast their votes in the DC Election on November 6. He also encouraged public-spirited individuals to stand for the District Council election.

     The Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law; the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan; the Acting Director of Broadcasting, Mr Gordon Leung; and the Election Ambassador, Mr Hacken Lee, also took part in the ceremony.

     The ceremony was jointly organised by the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, the Registration and Electoral Office and the Radio Television Hong Kong. It was held at the Siu Sai Wan Sports Centre, Siu Sai Wan Complex.
