Visitors to the World Exposition 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo) have been impressed with the Hong Kong Pavilion and Hong Kong's Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) exhibition during test runs conducted today (April 21) and yesterday.
The two exhibitions attracted more than 13,000 visitors yesterday - which exceeded original estimates by the HKSAR Government.
The test run today started at 9.30am. Visitor queues were orderly outside the Hong Kong Pavilion, and most guests were able to enter the Pavilion after waiting for 15 minutes on average.
Visitors generally said the exhibits were appealing.
They were most impressed by the 3D movie on the ground floor, the interactive exhibit in the atrium, the interactive game "Hong Kong Vision" in the mid-level, and the green environment on the rooftop.
Visitors were able to gain a better understanding of Hong Kong's connectivity with the world, its diversity, free flow of information and proximity to the nature.
Visitors were also happy with the guidance and services provided by Pavilion assistants and the general arrangements, which demonstrate Hong Kong's characteristics of "showing grandeur while being compact".
They were also delighted to receive an environmentally friendly carry bag as a souvenir - many of which were put to immediate use after visitors left the pavilion.
Visitors also spoke highly of Hong Kong's UBPA exhibition on the Puxi side of the Expo Park.
They were fascinated by the visual effects of the 360-degree circular screen and large, vertical LED screens, and interested to learn about the many different applications of smart card and Radio Frequency Identification technology via interactive virtual hosts.
The test run will be suspended for one day tomorrow, and will resume on April 23 for three more days.
Commissioner, HKSAR Expo Affairs office, Mr Patrick Chan said he was satisfied with the outcome of the test run.
He said operations would be fine-tuned in light of the experience gained to prepare for the Expo's grand opening on May 1.
Apart from the Hong Kong Pavilion and the UBPA exhibition, Hong Kong will also take part in the Expo Shanghai Online and stage more than 55 events and activities during the six-month Shanghai Expo period.
