The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, meets with the visiting Taichung City Mayor, Mr Jason Hu, this (November 19) afternoon. Mr Lam said the Chief Executive had announced in the Policy Address a number of strategies to enhance the further development of Hong Kong-Taiwan relations, including the establishment of a Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council (the Council). The Council will interact with the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council of the Taiwan side. These two entities will serve as a new platform for facilitating exchanges and discussion on issues of mutual interests to both sides, so as to promote Hong Kong-Taiwan exchanges on different levels.
