HK extends sympathy to Taiwan typhoon victims (with photos)

     With regard to the disaster and damage ensuing from the attack of Typhoon Morakot on Taiwan, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government extends its deepest sympathy and concern to the Taiwan community.

     On behalf of the HKSAR Government, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, today (August 18) presented a donation of $50 million to Managing Director of the Chung Hwa Travel Service Mr Yang Jia-jiunn, for onward transmission to the Taiwanese authorities. The donation is intended for disaster relief and reconstruction work in Taiwan, in the hope of providing timely assistance to the typhoon victims.
