Voter Registration

The Basic Law provides that permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shall have the right to vote in accordance with the law. In Hong Kong, voter registration (“VR”) is voluntary and the relevant VR matters (such as eligibilities and procedures) are stipulated in the electoral legislation. Individuals/bodies fulfilling the relevant eligibilities may fill in the specified registration forms and submit them to the Registration and Electoral Office (“REO”) in order to register as electors in geographical constituencies, electors in functional constituencies, and/or voters in the Election Committee subsectors. Only individuals/bodies included in the relevant final registers of electors/voters may vote in the corresponding public elections.

For details on the VR eligibilities, forms, deadlines, etc., please refer to the VR section of REO’s website.
