Following is the transcript (English portion) of the response made by the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, towards media questions at the Central Government Offices today (March 12):
Reporter: How do you respond to the Mainland ..... There are sayings that the officials have already had their decision on the 07/08 universal suffrage?
SCA: At this stage, the Constitutional Development Task Force is focusing on public discussion regarding principles in the Basic Law about constitutional development and matters of legislative process. Up till now, we have not discussed with the Mainland Authorities specific proposals for taking forward constitutional development in Hong Kong beyond 2007.
