Forums on Monday

Two forums on the decision made by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) on issues relating to the methods for selecting the Chief Executive (CE) in 2007 and for forming the Legislative Council in 2008 will be held in the afternoon on April 26.

Deputy Secretary-General of the NPCSC, Mr Qiao Xiaoyang; Vice-Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPCSC, Mr Li Fei; and Vice-Minister of the HK and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Xu Ze, have been invited to address the two forums.

The forums are jointly organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR.

The first session will be held at 5pm at the HK International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay. The participants will come from various sectors of community including HK deputies to the NPC, and HK members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The second session will be held at 7.15pm at Government House. The participants will comprise Principal Officials, Members of the Executive Council and the Legislative Council, and chairmen and vice-chairmen of the District Councils.

At a meeting of chairman and vice-chairpersons of the NPCSC on April 19, it was decided that the report on Hong Kong's constitutional development submitted by the CE will be deliberated at the meeting held from April 25 to 26.
