SCMA starts his visit to Beijing (with photos)

The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip, started his visit programme in Beijing today (August 15) and met with related ministries and departments to exchange views on work-related matters. He also took the opportunity to meet with Hong Kong people working and starting business in Beijing to keep abreast of their living and working situation.

Mr Nip visited the Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in Beijing (Beijing Office) in the morning and got an up-to-date briefing on the office's work. He said he was pleased to learn that the activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region organised by the Beijing Office in the capital and other provinces had received an overwhelming response. The office will also continue to foster links between Hong Kong and Beijing as well as provinces, cities and autonomous regions under its purview and launch activities to promote Hong Kong in future.

Mr Nip then paid courtesy calls on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

He also visited the Zhongguancun Beijing-HongKong-Macao Youth Innovation Center and met with young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong to learn about the opportunities and challenges encountered as a business starter in the Mainland.

Mr Nip will meet with officials of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council tomorrow (August 16). He will also have a meeting with representatives of organisations of Hong Kong people in Beijing to listen to them discuss their experiences and give feedback on working, living and doing business in the Mainland.

Mr Nip will return to Hong Kong tomorrow evening.
