Zhejiang Liaison Unit commences operation

The Zhejiang Liaison Unit (ZJLU) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) came into operation today (April 18) with the aim of assisting Hong Kong people and enterprises to better capitalise on the opportunities brought about by the development of the eastern region of the Mainland.
Located in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, the ZJLU has been set up under the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai (SHETO) of the HKSARG.
The Director of the SHETO, Miss Victoria Tang, said, "The ZJLU will work towards strengthening relations between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Zhejiang Province as well as its municipalities by enhancing government-to-government co-operation. It will also promote exchange and co-operation between the HKSAR and the relevant province and municipalities on the economic, trade and cultural fronts, as well as provide support to Hong Kong residents and enterprises in the area."
The Chief Executive announced in his 2017 Policy Address that a liaison unit would be set up in Zhejiang Province before the middle of this year. The SHETO has been working closely with the relevant authorities of Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou Municipality to make preparations for the setting up of the ZJLU.
The ZJLU is initially operating from a temporary office so as to commence service as early as possible. The temporary office is located at Room 743, 7/F, Tower A, China Resources Building, 1366 Qianjiang Road, Jianggan District, Hangzhou (Tel: (+86 571) 2809 3787; email: zjlu@sheto.gov.hk). The ZJLU is actively pursuing the setting up of a long-term office, and relevant details will be announced in due course.
