These are organisations with membership open to non-governmental bodies and interested entities or individuals (such as private companies, academic institutions, professional / voluntary bodies, experts, etc.). Their objective is usually to provide a forum for the exchange of information on certain subject matters (such as transportation, education, telecommunications, conservation of wild life, etc.). The HKSAR government participates in more than 160 international non-intergovernmental organisations not limited to states.
