Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Unit (GISOU)
The Unit was established in May 2005 to provide dedicated service on the promotion of equal opportunities for people of different sexual orientation and transgenders. The Unit is responsible for:
- managing and monitoring the Equal Opportunities (Sexual Orientation) Funding Scheme;
- maintaining a hotline for enquiries and complaints on issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity;
- launching publicity and education programmes, including promotion of the Code of Practice against Discrimination in Employment on the Ground of Sexual Orientation; and
- conducting research on issues regarding sexual orientation and gender identity.
